Noor Rahman Sheikh was the Chief Patron of the event.
This mass gathering on World Diabetes Day sets another example for Abeer’s committed endeavors for pervading community health awareness.
Over and above the achievement of Guinness World Record, Abeer’s ultimate intent is to invite public attention to the grievous health hazards and terminal illness due to diabetes.
Being the country with the largest diabetes incidence in the world, Abeer believes that Saudi Arabia should be the provenance of this mass health awareness battle.
Through this initiative, Abeer aims at joining hands with the ethos of the celebrated Saudi Vision 2030 for the national growth and transformation.
The health challenges currently faced by the Kingdom appertain to the increasing prevalence of diabetes, smoking etc.
The anti-smoking campaign steered by Abeer a few months ago seized massive public attention and created a ripple effect through similar social committed initiatives. The imposition of sin tax on cigarettes by the Government of Saudi Arabia was followed by the official launch and follow up activities of Abeer Antismoking Campaign 2017.
Abeer complimented the commendable efforts taken by the students, teachers and management of IISJ that paved way for the record-breaking achievement. “We have no words to compliment the dedicated efforts of IISJ team to support a noble cause. By joining hands with Abeer for a globally appealing event to fight diabetes, IISJ has become an exemplary model for other educational institutions elsewhere”- said the elated Alungal Mohammed, President, Abeer Medical Group after the official declaration by the GWR Adjudicator Hoda Khachab.
With the pride and pleasure of the achievement, Alungal announced educational scholarship to the deserving students nominated by IISJ management. Also, he declared that all the 4500 students who made Abeer’s dream a reality would be offered health checkup at the centers of Abeer cost-free.
Dr. Jemshith Ahmed, the master brain behind the world record achievement specially acknowledged the Principal, Headmaster and the teachers of IISJ for executing well a clearly designed action plan after a series of rehearsals.
The Head Boy of IISJ during his school days, Dr. Jemshith added that it gives him the same pride to exult over the record, as an impressive feat of both Abeer and IISJ. He declared the distribution of certificates for all the participants, which will contain the official logo of Guinness World Record.
The awareness actions of Abeer will shed light on the fact that healthy food habits and lifestyle practices can check health issues like diabetes to a great extent. Abeer will conduct a wide range of awareness programs on the subject ‘how to prevent diabetes’ in its healthcare facilities and the educational institutions in the region.
On making significant interventions in the youth and student groups, Abeer believes that it can save the future generations from the health disorders arising from diabetes. Abeer’s immediate goal is to organize diabetes awareness sessions for around 20000 students in 100 educational institutions in the Kingdom. In addition to this, thousands of students have already participated in Abeer’s Diabetes Awareness Survey. The survey report carrying a subtle analysis on diabetes risk factors such as sedentary lifestyle, lack of physical exercise, obesity, family history etc will be officially published in the media soon.
