JEDDAH: In the case of a man coming under attack and being subjected to various indignities and robbery in south Taif, the role of his bride and her woman friend has been established by police investigators, according to fresh information available on the crime.
The bride said her 20-year-old friend was the mastermind of the plot to lure the man to a convenient location and abduct him.
The fiancée residing in Quraie Bani Malik in South Taif added in her confession statement that the two youths, who abducted and assaulted the bridegroom acted at her orders, according to Okaz daily.
Her motive was to scuttle the marriage with the man from Baha before the consummation of their marriage.
Police arrested both the fiancée and her friend on the day when her wedding reception was supposed to take place.
The two young men who put on masks and claimed to be mabaheth (special investigation) officers at the time of the assault were arrested earlier on the complaint of the bride that they stripped his clothes, photographed him naked and robbed SR20,000 from his car after forcibly taking him to a lonely place. He travelled from his home in Baha to Quraie Bani Malik in South Taif on a day before the wedding reception at the request of the bride on the pretext that she wanted some last-minute advice from him on the wedding reception.
The two men told police investigators that they had just executed the plan chalked out by the two women.
According to media reports, the bride admitted during the investigation that she asked her woman friend to plan a strong plot with potential to spoil the marriage.
Police sent the bride, who had a nervous breakdown after the arrest, and her 20-year-old friend to the Women’s Home in Makkah. The two young men have also been sent to jail.
