Cristiano Ronaldo netted the first hat-trick of the season as Real Madrid thrashed Real Sociedad 5-2 at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium to make the perfect warm up for the clash of the season against Paris St Germaine in Champions League on Tuesday.
Lucas Vazquez headed home inside 50 seconds from a Ronaldo cross to open the scoring for the Los Blancos as they took 4-0 lead in a rampant first half.
Ronaldo slotted in on 27th minute from a fine pass from Marcelo and Toni Kroos curled home a beautiful goal from the edge of the box before Ronaldo raised up to head his second goal from a Luka Modric corner.
Jon Bautista pulled one back for the struggling Sociedad after the break but Ronaldo scored his third from close range to restore the four goal lead before Asier Illarramendi found a late consolation from a volley.
Despite having a match on sight in four days against the in-form PSG Zinedine Zidane named a strong side against the 14th-placed Real Sociedad, with only Gareth Bale and Casemiro rested from their last match.
The Galacticos lived up to the expectations of the Frenchman and displayed a near perfect performance to extend their grip on the top four of the Spanish La Liga.

The winning margin would have been even better if Karim Benzema and Ronaldo had capitalized a few brilliant chances during the halves. The out of form Benzema was booed by the home fans as he hit the post and the woodwork in clear goal chances.
“Scoring early helped us. Throughout that first half we played with great intensity, determination and will, we got a great result to take into the break. It was 45 minutes at a high level, good play, chances and goals. We can be satisfied with the result.
We have prepared well for Wednesday. Now we have to rest up, and tomorrow turn our attentions to the Champions League. We are all raring to go on Wednesday and that is our main concern,” Zidane told in the post-match reaction.
On Wednesday the La Liga champions will host another cup favourites PSG in the first leg of the pre-quarter final of the UEFA Champions League.
