JEDDAH: Dean of Students’ Affairs at the Jeddah University Hashem Balkhair said a traffic safety club will be founded with the aim of spreading among women the awareness of the rules and requirements of safety while driving, and to encourage their adherence to traffic regulations.
The establishment of the club comes in line with the decision of King Salman to permit women’s driving..
A major goal of the club is to spread ”the culture of safe and conscious driving” and ” to convert the mental image of traffic rules, safety requirements and complying with them as laws, regulations and deterrent punishments, to an image of culture, awareness, ethical values, responsibility and commitment” so that the level of community safety and security could be raised and a role model of traffic safety could be made, he said.
He added that the club will provide a package of awareness programs to women students shortly. It will include awareness training programs on safe driving, and continuous education of the most important traffic instructions to avoid accidents, in addition to interaction with local and international traffic events.
