RIYADH: The first season of the Kashmir Premier League has reached to its exciting climax as Rawalakot Rangers Jubail and Srinagar Strikers Jeddah will lock horns for the title clash on 24th November, 2017 at Nofa Cricket Stadium in Riyadh.
Both the teams stormed their way into final showdown of the league by winning their semi-final matches emphatically.
Rawalakot Rangers outplay Downtown Dynamites
In the first semi-final of this week, Rawalakot Rangers Jubail outplayed Downtown Dynamites Alkharj in all the departments of the game to win the match by whopping margin of 120 runs.
Earlier, DDK won the toss and decided to bowl first. RRJ smashed DDK bowlers all over the ground to plunder 202 runs with Amir Pervez scoring 38, Najmus Saqib 35 and Farhan Mushtaq 29 runs.
For DDK, Showkat took two wickets while Aarif, Altaf and Azhar took one wicket each.
In reply, DDK succumbed to the mammoth total and the disciplined bowling from RRJ and were bundled out on just 82 runs. No batsmen stood against RRJ bowlers except Aarif who scored 33 runs.
Wasim Ahmad ripped through DDK batting line up with his vicious pace and swing to scalp four batsmen to place his team on course to victory. RRJ became first team to storm into the final of KPL-1.
Wasim Ahmed for his brilliant and match winning bowling figures of 4/18 was given man of the match while as Amir Pervez walked away with Performer of the Match award for his sensible and calculative batting.
Srinagar Strikers show exit door to Baramullah Bashers
In the second semi-final match, Srinagar Strikers Jeddah showed the exit door to Baramullah Bashers Nofa to book title clash with Rawalakot Rangers Jubail.
SSJ won the second semi-final against Baramullah Bashers Nofa by six wickets.
Number one ranking batsman of the KPL Bilal Wani was the architect of SSJ victory who smashed quick-fire 98 of 42 balls to help his team cruise to victory. Earlier, BBN won the toss and elected to bat first. They were not able to score freely and managed a total of 155/7 runs in 20 overs.
Lukman Khan scored 36 runs and showed some resistance to SSJ bowlers but couldn’t handle pressure for long. It was great bowling spell by Aijaz Kanth who claimed 3/17 and Mushtaq Ahmed 2/9 which restricted BBN team on 155 runs in all important second semifinal.
For SSJ, Bilal Wani smashed BBN hapless attack all around Nofa Stadium to score 98 runs of 42 balls sending 6 balls over the ropes for maximums while as four were hit to fence. This was the second time, Bilal missed century. Earlier, he missed it just by one run.
BBN crashed out of the KPL-1. Bilal was adjudged player of the match for his blistering knock while as Aijaz Kanth was awarded performer of the match for his spell of 3/17.
The first ever league match in Saudi soil is being organised by Non-resident Kashmiris living in Saudi Arabia which is being sponsored by Halayalla.
