Saudi women could soon be allowed to work in traffic directorates, according to Okaznewspaper.
A committee set up following a royal order issued by Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud is studying the issue as well as the rules that regulate women’s driving.
The panel is made up of officials representing the ministries of interior, finance, labour and social development.
Traffic authorities announced that women would not be allowed officially to drive before June 2018.
Women caught driving will be fined SAR500 to SAR900.
The General Directorate announced that it had fined a woman who appeared in a video as she was driving a car in Riyadh.
